Madrid might not be like Amsterdam, a city where bicycles come first and cyclists are properly respected. However, enthusiasts of this type of transport in the Spanish capital also have some places and circuits to give free rein to their passion and practise a bit of sport. Today we show you the best places to go with bicycle in Madrid

Places to ride a bike in Madrid

Both in the city and outside of the metropolis, Madrid counts with several routes for safely bicycle touring. These are just some we have selected for you:

  • infobiciMadrid: Yes, we know that InfobiciMadrid isn’t a route or a place, but it’s a perfect tool provided by Madrid’s City Council to get to know some of the best routes in the city, from Arganzuela to It gives you the opportunity of discovering the different characteristics of each route (planned routes, residential priority, leisure routes, bicycle parking…) in addition to this, you can plan your itinerary and calculate the distances and difficulties from start to end.
  • Madrid Río: The circuits in Madrid Río are amongst the favourites for locals to do some exercise and enjoy a nice bike ride. In total there’s approximately 14 kilometres where you can also find several courts, parks and rest areas.
  • Cycling green ring of Madrid: This is a ring road of over 65 km that surrounds the city. During its outline you can find numerous rest areas. If you want to design your own route, you can see a map of its entire circuit on its webpage.
  • Cyclist road Mayor Alcalá: This road connects the city from Madrid Río to O’Donell. With nearly 10km long, it’s a very nice and easy ride.
