The most beautiful towns in Madrid

As we always say, beauty is a totally subjective thing. This is why our list of charming villages in Madrid has been made through our own perspective and thoughts. If you find another town that you think is worthy of the list, feel free to let us know!

  • San Lorenzo del Escorial: You can’t miss this beautiful locality. Its monumental monastery has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The town in itself is amazing and has a wide variety of restoration choices.
  • Aranjuez: This village, located in the southern part of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, has a great deal of attractions, such as the Royal Palace and the astonishing gardens. The town and its cultural landscape was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001.
  • Buitrago de Lozoya: In addition to the walls, castles and medieval ruins that you can find in this beautiful town, Buitrago de Lozoya has an extra attraction; the Picasso Museum, with paintings that the Spanish artist gave to his good friend Eugenio Arias.
  • Patones de Arriba: The slate houses, the tortuous and charming pavement, and the lovely natural landscape make Patones de Arriba one of Madrid’s most valued and beautiful towns. Very close you can find the archaeological site of Dehesa de la Oliva.
  • Alcalá de Henares: Place of birth of Miguel de Cervantes, Alcalá de Henares has one of the most beautiful historical centres in Madrid. Not in vain, it always was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
