Published on April 10, 2017 by Madrid SmartRentals

The Quinta de los Molinos park is one of those unique places that very few people know in Madrid. An oasis of peace and tranquillity where you can enjoy Spring in its full splendour walking by blooming almond trees.

Every year, from the beginning of March (although depending on the climatology) its almond trees start to bloom making this a place of incomparable beauty and charm.

In this time of the year, the park is especially photogenic and it’s an ideal place to breath pure air and evade from the stress and noise of the city. It’s also perfect for a picnic now that the weather starts to be nice again.

Blooming almond trees, ponds and windmills

In addition to the almond trees and other types of plants, this park has a pond with ducks, a greenhouse, a small palace and of course, several windmills that give name to this green lung in Madrid

This park’s origin dates back to the 1920’s, when D. Cesar Cort Boti, prestigious engineer and architect, decides to buy one of the plots that would later be part of the park. In 1978 he passed away and his heirs came to an agreement with the Local Government to be part of the local heritage. Today we can say that it’s the biggest and best conserved garden from that time in Madrid. It’s also been catalogued as and Historical Garden by the General Plan of Urban Development of 1997.

It’s located in the San Blas district, in the number 527 of Alcalá street (Metro stop Suances). It has 5 doors, in Alcalá street, Juan Ignacio Luca de Tena street, Avenida 25 de Septiembre and Miami street. You can access for free from 6:30AM to 10 PM.
