Oriental Madrid

Up until the 17th of February, you can enjoy in Madrid a series of cultural, gastronomic and leisure events on account of the Chinese New Year in Madrid. Different cultural and neighbourhood associations have come together to create a varied programme. In addition to this, from the local government and other entities, other activities have also been created so we can get to know a bit more of that unknown Chinese culture.

Chinese gastronomy: Enjoyr the Chinese New Year in Madrid

Madrid’s local Government and the Chinese Embassy in Madrid organise for the second consecutive year, China Taste. This is a culinary event where over 20 restaurants in Madrid. take part. Until the 12th of February you can enjoy special menus as good prices in all these restaurants, that also will help collaborate with Plena Inclusión Madrid, a group of Associations that help people with intellectual disabilities. Additionally, chefs all the way from China will come to help people know and discover the country’s gastronomy, forgetting all the pre-existing clichés.

Scheduled visits

Within the different acts to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Chinese Embassy in Madrid has scheduled a series of visits and special acts to let us discover their culture. In addition to the gastronomic immersion in China Taste, up until the 4th of February you can also enjoy the Cultural Cehngdu week, in Madrid’s zoo, with exhibits that have the Panda Bear as the main character.

The weekend of the 11th and 12th will take place in Plaza de España a very interesting fair where visitors will be able to enjoy live music, dance performances and other shows related to art and culture in China.

One of the places that will celebrate the Year of the Rooster is in the Usera neighbourhood, probably the part of Madrid with more Chinese people live. For the weekend of the 28th and 29th of January they have a wide variety of activities, concerts, workshops and parades programmed. A great way to discover a culture that, still nowadays is hugely misunderstood and unknown
