The English writer and politician Joseph Addison compared what reading is to the mind with what physical exercise is to the body. Reading truly has the capacity of taking us to places we have never been, lets us experience things we have never lived and feel things we have never felt.
Book Night of Madrid
Reading enthusiasts have a date set in Madrid. We’re referring to the book night. This event, that takes place on the 22nd of April, evolves around the International Book Day. The Paseo del Prado will turn into a street where libraries, authors and readers will reunite. All kinds of activities have been programmed, from open mic to live concerts, theatre representations, poetry recitals, games…
In addition to this, several writer talks have been set in the Real Casa de Correos, headquarters to the Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid Presidence (David Safier, Javier Marías…) and activities for children with the objective of encourage them to read.
Tourism and reading
On top of what we have already mentioned, this event will be also found on places like the National Archaeological Museum, the National Spanish Library, the Círculo de Bellas Artes, the Botanical Garden of Madrid, the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen Museums, the Casa de América and, of course the Instituto Cervantes. An ideal way of enjoying your passion for books while getting yo know some of Madrid’s most emblematic buildings.
