What to wear whilst in Madrid during the summer
We assume that the majority of the people reading the Gran Vía Capital blog are not from Madrid. Some of you come from outside Spain looking for individual lodging in Madrid. Therefore, especially for you, we are writing today’s post. We aim to give you ideas, tips and advice, on what to wear whilst in Madrid during the summer.
Average temperatures: High
Before we begin, take into account that summer in Madrid is dry and hot .The historical average is 29 degrees in July and 32 in August. This will give you an idea of the type of attire that you need to wear on you visit to Madrid: comfortable
Practical and Comfortable
The “must have” accessories to bring to Madrid in July, August and September are , a hat or cap, sunglasses preferably polarised.You can also use a light head scarf for a more informal look. Please take note that during the central hours of the day (from 12:00 until 17:00 ) is when the UV rays are more harmful.
Regarding criteria and dress code you will soon realise that Madrid is a cosmopolitan, multicultural and permissive city meaning that you can really wear what you like and don’t have to worry about inquisitive looks.
Light clothing
If you come on holiday,please bring with you comfortable foot wear like Sandals to wear on the tapas nights,on the terraces , or breathable canvas shoes or sneakers for walking about, either shopping or visiting museums etc. Madrid has a great transport network,but walking about its better, and you get to see the real Madrid. (Not the football team , just the authentic Madrid) .
As far as clothes are concerned, light summer dresses, and shorts for her and short trousers, short sleeved linen shirts or cotton t-shirts for him. All clothing preferably Light Coloured as dark ones attract and keep the heat longer. .
As well as your attire,don’t forget to carry with you a small rucksack, handbag or similar with a water bottle (indispensable) documents, wallet and high protection sun scream ( also indispensable).
