The Industrial Revolution, the Conquest of the West, the allied victory in World War 2… the train has been of a great importance  in a direct way in many historical events. This statement is also true in Madrid. Several historical trains in Madrid will help as a tribute and remembrance of some of these historical occurrences in Madrid. Today we tell you all about them

Touristic trains in Madrid

We had previously told you about pedestrian and bicycle routes that use some of the old railway tracks, and that today are part of the Spanish green routes in Madrid. The touristic trains we talk to you about today go through different routes, like they used to centuries ago.

One of the most interesting historical trains is the Cervantes Train that gives you the opportunity of (from Madrid) getting to know various monuments and places in Alcalá de Henares (where Cervantes was born), while enjoying the performance of actors dressed like in that time.

In the same way, the Medieval Train takes you from Madrid to Sigüenza, in a trip of approximately 90 minutes, also with actors dressed like in the Medieval era.

The 24^th and 25^th of September, and on the 1^st, 2^nd, 8^th, 9^th, 15^th and 16^th of October, the Tren de la Fresa(i.e. Strawberry Train) lets you enjoy a pleasant journey between Madrid and Aranjuez in an historical train, with hostesses with dressed of the time, Strawberry tastings and the possibility of visiting the Garden of the Prince, the Royal Palace or the Falúas Museum.

Last but not least,  Arganda’s historical tank engine will start to work again on the 2^nd of October. And will do every Sunday until the 18^th of December. This 4 kilometre route gives you the chance of seeing what it was like in the past and at the same time, enjoy the beautiful environment surrounding the Parque Regional del Sureste.
