The perfect plan for a summer day in Madrid

Published on July 7, 2016 by Madrid SmartRentals

Those of you getting on a bit may remember an 80’s movie called Ferris Bueller’s Day Off . In this film Ferris Bueller’s character (Matthew Broderick) and his friends spend a glorious day squeezingout all that Chicago city offers.

In our post today we propose something similar . Here Is the perfect plan for a summer day in Madrid to remember forever.

Build your strength up in the morning.

It Is important to build the strength up before strolling around Madrid in the summer. Some establishments offer brunch onweek days as well as at weekends. These are our recommendations for the best brunches in Madrid. Our favourites are the cute and cozy El 17 de Moreto (only weekends)), Café Oliver (María de Molina) or El Colmao Gastro Club inChueca.

A walk through art

Please bear in mind that temperatures are high during the summer in Madrid; Temperature reach an average of 29 degrees in July, and 32 in August,so that’s why we recommend after gathering your strength during breakfast-brunch, that you make use of the morning, visiting some of the great Art museums ((El Prado, Reina Sofía, Thyssen…).

In this way, you will avoid the worst times of the day when the heat gets peaks between 12am to 5pm) and enjoy some of the best paintings, classic sculptures and contemporary works .

Picnic in the gardens and parks

Once your eyes and your senses have been filled by art perhaps it would now be time to take care of your belly, eating al fresco . Madrid has an incredible amount of parks and gardens where you can find ample trees to provide shade, and to enjoy a picnic and relax.

The Madrid Río (river) the Retiro park, the Casa de Campo (lit.the country house), the Templo de Debod or the Capricho park are ideal spots for your picnic in Madrid.

Shopping afternoon.

After you have taken that well deserved break, you can spend the afternoon walking through the Madrid shopping areas . The more exclusive shops and boutiques are found in the Milla de oro de Madrid (the golden Mille).

TheSalesas, Fuencarral, Gran Vía orChuecaare other areas to shop , let’s say more suitable for everyones pockets, but equally attractive.

Ending the day in a terrace

To conclude your summer day in Madrid, what better than to enjoy in a relaxed manner, some tapas in some of the (very good) terraces in Madrid. Some of our favourites are The Círculo de Bellas Artes, the San Antónkitcken, The 17 de Moreto or the Casa Encendida.

If you wish to maximise your summer as in the city as much as possible , reserve now in our touristic apartments in Madrid .
