Places to practise nautical tourism in Madrid
No, we haven’t gone crazy. You will surely think that nautical sports and activities are somewhat difficult to do in Madrid. You’re wrong. Very close to the capital of Spain you can enjoy all kinds of water activities. This is why now that the sun and heat seem to be here to stay, you can plan a nice dip if you’re planning to stay at least a part of the Summer in Madrid.
Summer swimming-pools
From the 14th of May and until the 21st of September, you are able to enjoy the swimming-pools in Madrid. You can take as much baths as you want in any of the 23 municipal pools of the city. Aquatic activities in Madrid
Even if the Spanish group `Los Refrescos` made the famous song Aquí no hay Playa (i.e. There’s no beach here) dedicated to Madrid comparing to Barcelona, the truth is, if you want, you can freshen up in the most sizzling days of the year. As we were telling you, even if it’s strange to put Madrid with nautical tourism together, the fact is that there’s places to enjoy water and physical activities.

- Royal Nautical Club of Madrid: (Real Club Náutico de Madrid): These facilities are located in the San Juan Dam in San Martín de Valdeiglesias. The club was first opened in 1958 and has a bathing area, sailing school…
- Madrid’s reservoir: Other option we can give you is to go to the navigable reservoirs in the Autonomous Community. A great number of them are fully-equipped with services and leisure activities. Some of the most important ones are: El Atazar, Pedrezuela, Picada, LompaandValmayor.
If you like to practise nautical sports in a more relax way, you can ask in Madrid for activities that some of their canoeing clubs. The City Hall has three big places where you can try that sport out: The Retiro dam, The Casa de Campo lake and the municipal rowing School in Madrid Río.
