Places to go out for a run in Madrid

Published on January 4, 2016 by Madrid SmartRentals

One of the things we promise to ourselves every year is to get in shape. Today we’re going to propose some of the best places to run in Madrid without having to leave the city.

Juan Carlos Primero park.

One of the preferred for runners. Its 3km don’t let you feel the monotony of the usual runner as it has different routes and crossing paths. While running you will feel the land goes up and down, which make the Juan Carlos I park, in el Campo de las Naciones, an ideal place to run in the capital.

 Retiro park

To go to Madrid and not go to the Retiro park is like going to New York and failing to visit the Central Park. This impressive lung also has a route of approximately 4km made out of sand and stone, perfect for the runners to exercise without the knee and joint-suffering that a harder ground usually causes.

Madrid Río

The M-30 road excavation made possible the construction of the Madrid Rio park, situated in the Arganzuela district and where the runners can enjoy a well-signalled 9km route, with great sport facilities like routes for bikes, 33 skating rings… You can also play football, paddle, basketball, tennis, or even climbing.

Parque del Oeste

This is the favoured spot for more experienced runners. Why… Because in El Parque del Oeste you will find a big number of hills that make this running area in Madrid a more complicated circuit. Its total length is 4,5 km and the ground is both concrete and sand.

Canal de Isabel II

The perfect place for beginners that don’t want to go too far. In a Tartan track slightly over a km long, the runners can exercise using the free sport facilities you will find. It’s very well signalled and measuring your times will be much easier.

Dehesa de la Villa

For both experienced and beginners. Close to the Ciudad Universitaria campus, you can find different types of runners, you will find a more adequate route depending on your experience and physical form.

Templo de Debod

A small itinerary (less than a km) but very well situated in Madrid, very recommendable for beginners or for those experienced runners who want to, for example, work on their velocity series while luxuriating in an amazing environment.

Temple of Debod

Casa de Campo

A very versatile itinerary for every type of runner. It has a vast election of tracks and routes that can add up to 25km. It combines areas of shadow and trees with different kind of land (sand, stone…) and slopes. We highly recommend you to always go out for a run in Casa de Campo with someone who knows its tracks and routes, getting lost is easier than it looks.

As you can see, Madrid is also an ideal scenery for sport-lovers. In Gran Via Capital we will like to be your ‘warriors rest’. Luxury facilities in the best area of Madrid.
