Up until the 28th of April, the 8th line between Nuevos Ministerios and Aeropuerto-T4 will be closed for maintenance and rehabilitation works. The the single ticket (Area A and ML1), the most common one while visiting Madrid to move around the key points of the city, has a price of 1,5€ for up to 5 stations. For each extra station, 0,10 is added to the price, up to a maximum of 2€ for trips of more than 9 stations.
We recommend that during your stay in Madrid, you combine moving on foot (Madrid is a great city to walk around) with the 10-way ticket, called Metrobús. You can also use the Tourist Travel Pass, valid for 1,2,3,5 or 7 consecutive days to travel in an unlimited way using all the public transport means in the Autonomous Community of Madrid. In this case, we recommend that if you’re moving around the city in a long stay, and if you want to visit nearby towns. This ticket is non-transferable and only the person that is going to use it can buy it, presenting a valid ID.
You have to take into consideration that you always have to carry your ticket. Children under 4 years old can travel without ticket. Madrid’s Metro is open from 6:05 in the morning and 2am, with the exception of the Pitis station (line 7) and the stretch between Puerta de Arganda and Arganda del Rey. This is always subject to modifications.
