Ice skating in Madrid
Madrid is already filled with lights, Christmas trees and nativity scenes. One of the greatest Christmas traditions in Madrid is to go to the different ice rinks you can find in the city. Today we’re going to show you some of them so you can enjoy a bit of exercise between all your shopping (but don’t fall too much!)
Ice rinks in Madrid
In the 2016 Christmas holidays, Madrid’s city council has designed the installation of two ice skating facilities in the city. The first in the Cristal Gallery of the Cibeles Palace. With over 475 square metres, with a length of 25m and a width of 19m.
This ice skating rink in Madrid will open from the 21st of December to the 6th of January. This amazing place reopens after its absence in last year’s festivities.
However, this will not be the only one you can enjoy in these holidays. In Plaza de Colón you will find another place to practise this sport, located in the Jardines del Descubrimiento, from the 17th of December to the 15th of January
The second one has over 500 square metres.
Other options
In addition to these municipal ice skating rings, in Madrid, there are other facilities where you can enjoy this amazing and fun sport.
- Palacio de Hielo (Ice palace): Calle Silvano, 77. It has over 1,800 square metres and it’s the perfect place for standard ice skating, figure skating, and curling.
- La Nevera: In the outskirts of Madrid, in Majadahonda, it offers several ice skating courses for different levels.
- Pabellón de Hielo de Leganés: 1,450 square metres a few minutes away from Madrid. Here you can learn figure skating and ice hockey.
