Going through Madrid by bicycle

If you follow this blog regularly, you will surely know that we like sports here in Gran Vía Capital. Not for nothing we count with a fully equipped gym so you can keep fit during your stay with us. In this sense, if you want to keep fit in Madrid and at the same time, do a different kind of tourism, we propose a series of original cycling tourist routes.

Bicycle routes through Madrid

Travelling by bike in Madrid is one of the greatest pleasures in the region, and at the same time one of the most original ways to get to know it. Of course this also means the possibility of burning some calories in a very affordable way.

In the Spanish Railway Foundation’s website (Fundación de los Ferrocarriles Españoles) you can see some of the scenic routes in Madrid destined to touristic cycling.

Guadarrama’s scenic route

This route has approximately five kilometres and you can find it between Móstoles and the bridge over the Guadarrama river. You can continue until the town of Navalcarnero through the old railway outline although this section is not signposted and is not very well prepared.

The 40 days Train’s scenic route

This route of over 14 km is located between the Carabaña and Estremera towns. It has various ditches and crossings. This pavement route is a great way to get to know a different side of the city.

Tajuña’s route

Located between Arganda del Rey and Ambite, this scenic route of nearly 50km of concrete and soil goes through the beautiful valley and Tajuñas riverbank. A great opportunity to enjoy some sport while you discover an amazing landscape away from all the worries and stress of the big city.

Gasoline’s route

Less than 4km of route that connect the towns of Alameda de Osuna and Rejas. It counts with parks, rest areas, green spaces and playground zones… this is an ideal place to go with children that are starting to ride bikes.
