Free museums in Madrid (II)

In the first part of this post we told you about some of Madrid’s art museums you can access for free. Some are not free every day or at full time, but offer certain times you can visit without having to pay.

Today we’re going to show you more free museums in the city, but this time we’re not limiting to paintings.

National Museum of Decorative Arts

Located in the number 12 of the Montalbán street, very close to the Retiro Park, this museum shows everyday life objects of and their evolution since the 15th century to nowadays. Over 70, 000 objects that can be visited completely for free on Thursdays afternoons and on Sundays (the whole day).

National Archaeological Museum

You can find this museum in Calle Serrano 13. On Saturdays, from 2pm and on Sundays (all day) you can discover this very interesting exhibit that takes you through the different stages of Human evolution, from the caves until nearly today.

National Anthropology Museum

You can perfectly combine the visits to the Archaeological museum with this one. Here you can see how society, mankind and the way we relate with each other has evolved throughout history. On Saturdays from 2’pm and on Sundays up until 3pm, the National Anthropology museum has a free entry.

Coin House-Museum

The Coin’s House-Museum is considered as one of the most important ones of its type. A tour through money’s history, the different uses it has had, production and anecdotes over the years.

From Tuesdays to Fridays (From 10am to 5:30pm) and on Weekends, the museum is completely free.

America’s Museum

The Museo de América is situated in the Reyes Católicos Avenue. It has over 25,000 pieces, from pre-Columbian paintings to ethnographic and colonial objects. You can visit it on Sundays from 10am to 3pm for free.
