Free exhibits you can visit this summer in Madrid

No, Madrid doesn’t close down for summer. During the months of July and August the cultural and leisure agenda is full. In this post we’re going to tell you about some of the best free exhibits you can enjoy this summer in the Spanish capital. Choose the one you that best adjusts to your likings and have fun!

The best free exhibits you can’t miss this summer

  • Madame Butterfly and the Japanese attraction. Madrid, 1868-1915: The exhibit brings together over 45 pieces in different format, with which you can dig deep into the early Japanese art collecting in Madrid, in the popularisation of Japanese culture through fashion, theatre and music. An important part of the exhibit has been dedicated to the premiere of the opera Madame Butterfly from Giacomo Puccini in the Royal Theatre of Madrid on 1907.

Where: Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza (Paseo del Prado, 8)

When: 22nd of June- 27th of August 2017. Mondays from 12AM to 4PM. From Tuesday to Sunday from 10AM to 7PM.

  • With the eyes wide open. 100 years of Leica photography: An exhibit to celebrate one hundred years of the Leica photography, a light and small camera, easy to use that made it possible to take spontaneous and dynamic photos up until unimaginable moments. The showing is composed of close to 400 photographies with documentary material that includes newspapers, magazines, books, adverts, catalogues and camera prototypes.

Where: Espacio Fundación Telefónica (C/ Fuencarral, 3). Third floor.

When: May- September 2017. From Tuesday to Sunday from 10AM to 8PM.

  • The right to love. Isabel Muñoz: A photographic project from Isabel Muñoz made with the occasion of the WorldPride. The showing is composed by close to 90 photos LGBTI in nowadays Spain, and the different types of events and experiences in the diversity and sexual orientation (adolescent bullying, intolerance stories, transsexualism and many other things.

Where: CentroCentro Cibeles (Plaza Cibeles, 1)

When: 24th of June- 1st of October. From Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 8PM.
