Comic´s paradise in Madrid
If you’re planning on visiting Madrid in this local break, there are a great deal of leisure options you might want to try out. Today we’re going to tell you about one that will bring to light your geek side. An event that you will love, especially if you like superheroes.
Expocomic in Madrid
In the third pavilion of Madrid’s Fair, the 3rd and 4th of December Expocomic 16 takes place. For the first time in Madrid, this comic fair dedicates 16,200 squared metres to comics, illustration, TV shows, cosplay and videogames amongst many other things.
The comic fair in Madrid will count with the presence of a wide variety of special guests such as the actor Ray Park (Darth Maul in The Phantom Mencace) or authors such as Vicente Alcázar, Alfonso Azpiri, Salvador Larroca or ClaudiCastellini.
The people attending Expocomic 16 will be able to enjoy an autograph area, several exhibits, workshops and talks, a children area, musical performances, board games, cosplay,a videogame area, a wrestling zone…
The opening hours on Saturday are from 9am to 9 pm and on Sunday from 9am to 8pm. Take into account that if you’re going to be on these days in Madrid, children under 10 years old accompanied by an adult have a free entry. Ideal shops to bring out your nerd side
In Madrid there are a wide variety of comic stores, merchandising and memorabilia that the child inside you will surely love (although you don’t have to be a child to enjoy comics) and will give you some great ideas for your Christmas shopping.
- Akira: this is shop located at the 74th of Avenida de Betanzos. With over 23 years of history, in 2012 they received the ‘Eisner’ award to the best comic shop in the world (Something like the Oscars of the comic stores) a true delight.
- Elektra Comics: A comic shop you can find in the 20th of San Bernardo street. It counts with a wide variety of national and international material, of all genres.
- Madrid Comics: a store that specialises in comics, merchandising, graphic novels and books at Calle Silva, 17
- Generación X: It has several stores throughout Madrid, but we highly recommend the one in Calle Puebla 15. They have a great deal of graphic novel and manga material, and a board game area.
