Oktoberfest is the Woodstock for beer enthusiasts, a real party of the golden elixir. This festival that takes place in Munich between September and October serves as the perfect tool to get to taste the best beers of the area, as well as some of Germany’s best cuisine.
Very soon, great beer lovers in Madrid have a date to set in their agenda for the Spanish capital’s version of this festival

Oktoberfest in Madrid

From the 22nd to the 25th of September takes place in the Barclaycard Center the third editiom of Oktoberfest Madrid. A small piece of traditional music, cuisine and of course beer, brought directly from Munich in a very popular event in its latest editions.
As a matter of fact, in 2015 more than 20, 000 people took part in this event in a festival where more than 30, 000 litres of beer were poured, more than 1.5 million barrels of the same liquid were finished, over 28, 000 sausages were cooked and around ten thousand pretzels were sold.

In this year’s edition they hope to increase this number by a lot. Thursday’s and Friday’s the festival will be open from 8pm to 12pm, Saturday’s from 1pm to 5pm in the afternoons and from 8pm to 12pm in the evenings.

All of this of course, will be enlivened by the best traditional Bavarian live music. In the festival’s web you have more information.

The best beer in Madrid

If before or after this year’s festival of Oktoberfest you can try the best beer in Madrid in a series of local bars. For example, in the 29th of Valverde street (in Malasaña) you can find the brewpub Fábrica Maravillas, that has its own artisanal brewery. The Cervecería Santa Ana (Plaza de Santa Ana, 10), la Ardosa (Calle Colón 13) or Taberna de la Dolores (Plaza de Jesús 4) are just some of the places we recomend.
