Culture in autumn in Madrid

Classic and modern literature is the main theme of a great deal of activities that are going to take place in Madrid in the following weeks. From Madrid Smart Rentals we’re going to tell you all about the most important ones.

The Autumn Book Fair

Up until the 16th of October you can enjoy the 28th edition of the Autumn Book Fair (second-hand and old books) of the Autonomous Community of Madrid. The Paseo de Recoletos is the perfect scenario where over 40 booksellers of all over Spain that mainly specialise in old and special literature volumes and incunabula.

If you’re an enthusiasts of the search and discovery of manuscripts, hard-to-find books, first editions of out-of-print books, this is the perfect event for you. The Fair will be open from 11am to 9pm.

You can visit the webpage of the Second Hand Book Association ( Asociación de Libreros de Viejo) who are the ones in charge of the organisation of the Fair to find out more information of the different libraries that take part in this event.

Cervantes in memories

Different events and activities are still being organised as a tribute to Cervantes in the fourth Centenary of his death. Two events that are related with the writer’s life and work take are taking place in this month of October in Madrid.

On the one hand, Dibuja Madrid that pays a special tribute to the writer through paintings and drawings, with different courses, painting workshops and walks through Cervantes’ routes. In the following link you can find more information regarding this very interesting event.

On the other hand, from the 5th of October and until January 2017, the National Library organises the exhibit’16 characters that wonder and…Miguel de Cervantes’. This exposition is a large tour through his life’s work, from La Galatea to Los Trabajos de Persiles y Segismunda.

This exhibit of Cervantes in Madrid indicates details of the writer’s work with a very original touch. An unbeatable way to bring you closer to the life of one of the greatest writers of all time (with William Shakespeare of course)
