Andy Warhol, exhibition El Arte Mecánico in Madrid
You only have until May 6 to enjoy an incredible exhibition, unique in Madrid, at the CaixaFórum (sorry we’re excited). Andy Warhol (Pittsburgh, 1928 – New York, 1987), known as the pop artist par excellence, owes his fame to the interpretation of products such as the Campbell’s soup series or the transformation of great icons of his time, such as actors, politicians or singers like the Rolling Stones, Basquiat, Marcel Duchamp, Marylin Monroe, Elvis or David Bowie. Everyone who in the 60s-70s has participated in pop culture in the United States has gone through the hands and life of Warhol
Warhol, “El Arte Mecánico”
We are before one of the most recent artists who has turned his own image into a character of himself, hidden behind his characteristic hairstyle and always accompanied by his huge glasses. This exhibition allows us to get closer to the artist Warhol, editor, photographer, patron … a complex profile to interpret and that keeps a mystery and artistic delicacy that he captures in his work to perfection.
The works selected for this “mechanical art” by Andy Warhol capture the cult of merchandise interpreted by its way of converting everyday products into art through its peculiar form of creation.
The mechanical art, seemingly impersonal, aims to deny the emotional charge of the works and show us an iconic product. In addition to his works, the exhibition includes essays and a section of portraits made to the artist by photographers such as A lberto Schommer, Richard Avedon or Robert Mapplethorpe .
We show you a sample of what you can see in Warhol, Arte Mecanico, you will know a little and you will want more, at the end of the post you have more information about this exhibition
