Summer is already here! Children are on holidays, days are longer and in Madrid there’s a wide variety of plans to enjoy with your family. You don’t have to go to the beach to not get bored during these months. Take a good look at the plans we suggest for you to spend an amazing summer in Madrid.

1. Summer cinema: the ideal plan for families that love movies. Open air cinemas give you the opportunity of watching the newest movies and great classics in an original and different way. Additionally, it usually is cheaper than conventional cinemas. In Palacio de Cibeles you can find “Cibeles de Cine”, y La Casa Encendida “La Terraza Magnética” and very close to Paseo de la Castellana, the Autocine Madrid.
2. We’re off to the theatre! A cool, cultural and entertaining plan. Madrid has a wide variety of plays for the whole family: magic shows, puppet shows, musicals… if you still haven’t enjoyed this amazing show, we highly recommend you to go and see El Rey León (i.e. The Lion King), that has been charming visitors since 2011.
3. Attraction park excursions: The little ones love it. And many adults too. When it’s hot in the city, the attraction parks in Madrid open the water rides and aquatic areas. The best to freshen up. If you’re planning on visiting Warner Park, you can’t miss Warner Beach, with several water attractions for kids and adults, and a natural sand beach. In the Parque de Atracciones in Casa de Campo you’ll also find very fun and summer-like options such as Los Rápidos- with pneumatic boats that simulate a journey through the river rapids, or Los Fiordos, a water roller-coaster with a fall at 56 km/h.
4. Madrid’s zoo: In summer, the zoo closes much later than usual so you can visit it without being afraid of the high temperatures of the central hours of the day. Kids will love the sea lion and dolphins show, the giant pandas, giraffes, the bird of pray show, the Bengal tigers, the sharks…
5. A swim right in nature: Ok, we know it, there’s no beach in Madrid. But very close by you can find natural pools, rivers and reservoirs where you will be able to enjoy a nice swim out in the open. Madrid’s Autonomous Community has four different natural areas where you can swim: Las Presillas (Rascafría), Los Villares (Estremera), the Embalse de San Juan and Playa de Alberche (Aldea del Fresno). We can also add to this list the Parque Recreativo de las Berceas in Cercedilla, with a garden area to sunbathe under the wild pines and two big pools to have a swim.
