Guide through the accessible Madrid

One of the main problems of our cities is sometimes, the access to buildings and monuments for people with mobility problems. Luckily, Madrid is a conciliatory city, where the great majority of museums, buildings and places of interest are prepared for people with reduced mobility. Today we’re going to give you a guide through the accessible Madrid.

Guided visits through the city

The city hall of Madrid, with the program “Madrid for everyone” organises accessible tours through the historical Madrid (Thursdays and Fridays at 16:00), and through the monumental Madrid (Saturdays and Sundays at 12:00)

Both tours, of approximately two hours long, are carried out by Spanish guides and in groups of up to 25 people. These outings through the most relevant areas of the city of Madrid rely on the organisation and participation of professional guides. In both scenarios, the starting point is the tourist centre in Plaza Mayor. The first Saturday of each month, the second tour has the help of an interpreter for sign language in Spanish.

In addition to the accessible free visits that the local government offers, the city has a wide variety of places built to be enjoyed by everyone, independently of their degree of mobility or physical autonomy

Even though all the establishments and buildings that appear in this guide are not 100% reachable, they do meet certain minimum standards facing the public.
