5 advices for you to choose your sunglasses

Published on June 12, 2017 by Madrid SmartRentals

Sunglasses are the perfect accessory for summer. You can find them in all shapes and colours, however, at the time of the purchase, you shouldn’t only rely on if they’re modern or they suit you well. Taking care of the eyes’ health is very important. Take into account that having non-approved sunglasses can be even more damaging than not being protected at all.

5 useful tips for you to choose the perfect glasses

  1. Buy your sunglasses in an optician’s shop if you want to be sure that your spectacles have passed all the pertinent security criteria.
  2. Choose it with the correct filter according to the use you’re going to give it. The categories go from 0 (nearly colourless) to 4 (very dark), and they indicate the percentage of light they let through. Bear in mind that the darker ones can’t be used to drive.
  3. Polarized glasses help us avoid reflections that conventional glasses can’t keep clear of. They prevent blinding, provide a clear image and reduce the eye’s fatigue. They’re the perfect glasses to use while driving or with any activities at sea.
  4. When you’re going to choose the colour of the glass, please remember:
  • Brown lens will reduce your visual fatigue and don’t change very much your colour perception. Recommended for people operated from cataract.
  • Grey-coloured lens hardly change your colour perception and are ideal to drive. They’re also good for photophobia cases.
  • Green lenses are recommended for nautical sports and winter. Perfect for long-sightedness
  • Yellow or orange lenses are recommended for people to use in situations with not much brightness such as sunrise, nightfall or fog.

5. Make sure your glasses have the correct size and they properly adjust to your nose. Choose ones you feel comfortable with.

So, please remember, don’t buy your next pair of sunglasses just for the looks. Don’t underestimate the lens quality if you don’t want to have eye problems such as conjunctivitis or cataracts. Be careful. One in every 3 sunglasses has not passed the appropriate sanitary controls.
