Meet Madrid: El triball
A city with centuries of history has seen the birth, uprising, death and revival of many streets and neighbourhoods. The successive urban development and enlargment, together with the unstoppable gentrification process in other areas have led to the recovery and improvement of many neighbourhoods of the Spanish capital.
One of the areas of most regeneration and that has progressed the most is known as the Triball of Madrid, one of the most hip areas of the city.
A regeneration that is still in process
The Triball of Madrid (Triángulo de Ballesta Madrid) is a reactivated and regenerated area in Madrid that is inspired in the New Yorker neighbourhood of Tribeca. Different establishments, designers, artists, restaurants and all kinds of businesses that have been installed in the last few years in the area, achieving a perfect coexistance between traditional shops and new ones.
The new life of a traditional area
Until the 16th century, this area was no more than a suburb. With the uprising of a new and thriving burgeosie in Madrid, the neighbourhood enjoyed a re-emergence that didn’t last very long considering that the urban plans that took place in the Spanish capital at the end of the 19th Century and begining of the 20th century (specially the birth of Gran Vía) left the neighbourhood cut off.
In the last years the area has revived again, and together with the traditional houses and shops of the area, you can find design stores, avant garde restaurants, modern and actual establishments that follow a sustainability policy and a very refreshing of respect to the environment.
The Triball of Madrid is a place where you can enjoy a full day of leisure, shops and tourism in a very genuine neighbourood of Madrid, theatre…
