San Isidro starts in Madrid
From the 12th to the 16th of May the most traditional, genuine and celebrated festivities of the city take place. San Isidro in Madrid is not only a fun celebration but also something that describes the pure essence of the city. This year, the activity programme of the most awaited festival in Madrid combines the trendiness and present, with tradition and local customs.
Throughout the 5 days of San Isidro’s celebrations in Madrid over 200 free activities have been programmed, with music and concert being a very important part. On Friday the 13th, at 8pm you will be able to hear the proclamation that will take place in the Plaza de la Villa. This announcement will be given by Santiago Auserón, leader of Radio Futura, one of the most emblematic bands from the movidamadrileña.
San Isidro’s meadow is the central point of this festivity, but shows will also be programmed in places like Plaza Mayor, losJardines de Vistillasor El Retiro. Other locations will allow the festival to extend throughout the city.
In the Debod Temple and in the Plaza de Oriente, afternoons will be devoted to classical music. In Plaza Conde de Barajas, poetry readings and in El Retiro, fireworks.
Different types of concerts
As we have already told you, the music component of this party is going to be essential. In fact, approximately the 50% of the programmed activities are going to be live performances.
Santiago Auserón, Nacho Vegas, Obús, the Villa de Madrid Rock competition, orchestras, swing concerts, hip-hop dance… a wide variety of musical styles and shows in different points of a city that will be definitely loud those days.
