What to do in Madrid during this long weekend
If you’re planning on visiting Madrid during this local holiday, in Gran Vía Capital we suggest some ideas and plans for you to enjoy during this local festivity.
Sport for all tastes
During this long weekend several sport events take place throughout the city. One of them is the 13th European Triathlon Cup, the 1st of May in the Casa de Campo. One day before, in the same place, the Spanish Triathlon Federation organises the Popular Triathlon of Madrid.
As we have already told you about in our blog, the spring season in the Racetrack of Madrid is fully running. Amongst the ones that happen the 1st of May you can enjoy from 11:30 in the morning, the ones of the PremioComunidad de Madrid.
Markets in Madrid
Discover the best open air markets while you have a walk through the city. Precisely it’s on Saturday and Sunday when the Madrid Productores market takes place in the Matadero Madrid. This market is fully dedicated to the production of artisanal food, eco and sustainable products.
Puente de Mayo with your kids
If you’re visiting Madrid with your children, then you also have some very interesting options. For example, in the Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa there is a theatre cycle for children, called ‘Rompiendo el cascarón’ (i.e. leaving the nest). During the festive days of this long weekend, the group Baraka Teatro presents ‘Oceanus’ a trip to the sea and ocean secrets.
On Saturday the 30th, the Price Circus hosts the gala Eucima, first started on 2009 and that has the objective of bringing to the public the beauty and spectacle of the theatre, dance and circus.
And speaking of theatre for kids, on Saturday too, you can watch the musical representation of Alice in Wonderland in the Teatro Príncipe Gran Vía.
Madrid, fills up with music
We start this part of the post with a special suggestion, the concert of Slim Jim Phantom, legendary drummer of the Stray Cats. You can enjoy it this Saturday in sala el Sol, with the best rockabilly and 50’s rock that you can listn to nowadays.
In Sala Caracol, the swedish group Hellsingland Underground will also play this Saturday the 30th, with music that is inspired in Allman Brothers, Neil Young or the blues bands of the late 60’s and beginning of the 70’s.
For the searchers of a more ‘funk’ sound, the trombonist Fred Weasley (James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic…) can be enjoyed in the Sala Clamores.
Remember in Gran Vía Capital we count with an information and ticket reservation service. If you’re interested in going to these, or any other events that take place this weekend in Madrid, don’t hesitate to contact us and ask us what you need.
